No need for it other then to let you know you’re scraping it. I’d remove it and buy a z06 lip on eBay for $75 shipped. Transform the look of your car in 5 mins. I actually need to do just that on the car I just bought.

Thanks, I might make that modification too. Won't hurt too bad if it gets whacked at only $75.00. I never did put one on my C6. At $400.00 for a carbon fiber model it would have really hurt to whack that one. I still have it by the way if anyone needs one at a good deal.

Those plastic air dams are designed to help with the aerodynamics of the car, but your choice whether you feel they are needed at all. Apparently some just take them off and I do not believe the Z51 model does has the center one from the factory. They really are an expendable item as they tend to scrape when encountering a clearance obstacle and gives you some warning that your front end may be about to touch pavement/obstacle.
I have had a 2014 for over a year, the center section was never there. Doesn't seem to affect anything.
I wonder if anybody has had that front lip catch on something and rip the front bumper section?
It's there for high speed aerodynamics to prevent lift. They are not needed if you aren't doing high speed runs. And correct, the Z51 doesn't have the center dam
If you look at the OP's bottom of the front bumper the new splitter may not last long. That is my problem too. I mostly back in but every once in a while I forget to stop in time going forward. I am installing a front cam that will hopefully help me with that. Heck it's only 75 bucks anyhow.
I found one for $66 on ebay and it is waiting in the garage for the RIVETS. That's right. Unknown by me at the time. The bolts are reusable. The rivets, not so much! Good luck.
