I have not owned a C8 and I don't plan to. I know the C7 hit the plateau of the front engine Corvette design and there was little left improve upon. So says GM.
From my perspective, however, there are too many compromises with the C8 for the sake of a mid-engine to make me happy.

Reason: typo
Without saying it, the base C8, has been an overall disappointment, all things considered.... (Even though they tried so hard.)
Which is impossible to say about the magnificent C7!

I agree 100% the looks and the mid engine platform make me from wanting or liking a new Corvette ever again!
I have a Torch Red vert C7 but if I were to go to the C8 it would be this model. I don't care for the black trim and prefer it to be painted as the car.
ainted the same as the car.
I have owned my 2015 convertible Z51 for almost 10 years. It isn't a Z06, but it is a really great car. I also have a 2023 HTC Z51. The C8 is just better at almost everything. If you have never had a mid engine car, then it takes a bit to figure out just how well it handles when you drive it properly. I would hands down pick the C8! My solution to your dilemma is buy a C8 Z06 .

Sorry just my honest opinion . Keep you're C7 as this C8 in the picture looks hideous. It looks like a speed boat.

The Mid engine cars I am sure drive better on a track than the front engine cars but looks wise and fun factor the C7 blows the C8 away.

I can't compare the base C8 to the C7 Z06 because like the C7 I went straight to the Z06 with the C8. I have driven the C8 Stingray with Z51 package and can honestly say I would not give up my C7 Z06 for one. The C8 Z06 I would have if I wasn't in a position to keep both. Fortunately I can keep both.
One thing to consider is how do you use the car?
The floor plan is very different between the two.
C7: large accessible luggage space immediately behind the passengers. This allows access to items while traveling. Things like a cooler for drinks and snacks, a laptop bag, some personal items like books or journaling supplies.
When we take long trips my wife frequently works on her laptop, needs to have some files handy, etc. Having the magride in tour mode allows her to type without her fingers bouncing off the keys. Also, the C7 cockpit is more passenger friendly, the passenger can easily use the infotainment screen.
C8: The only space for anything as you drive is at the passenger's feet. That's going to make my wife unhappy. The frunk is an option, but then you are stopping to get access to anything. The C8 passenger seat is a less pleasant place to be. It can be hard to comfortably place your left arm with that odd climate control switch array angling down and it's hard to use the infotainment screen.

That is one heck of a stable. I like them both, but the red one would be a neckbreaker on the road. Lots of looks for a stunning example.

Thanks. Technically the C8 is a manual (though no 3rd pedal and no stick to row). It's the clutch that's auto. The C7 in the pic is an 8 speed auto. Bad knees and no good roads locally to really exploit rowing gears so I'm ok with it. I do miss my C6 427 convertible, though.
Here is a modified picture of the above convertible with the intake edges flared into the body and the ugly indentation below the door removed. Of course, it is personal but to me, adding bends and lines that have no function makes no sense. The C7 has beautiful lines unobstructed by humps, bends, and bulges. I believe this change makes the C8 more organic-looking and not so angular.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
