I seem to be having intermittent problems with my Ctek charger. I have a Ctek extension cable and the Ctek power plug. The plug came with a removable red spacer that fits over the end of the plug near the positive terminal. Am I supposed to use the red spacer or leave it off for the C7 port at the rear factory charge port? My trouble shooting so far tells me the charger is OK. I had touched the plug and things went sideways.
I am not sure what you mean by "I had touched the plug and things went sideways.", but the red tip should stay on, if it is falling off give a little clockwise twist, about 1/16 to 1/8 turn that locks it on. On my Ctek charger if I do not give it a twist left to right a couple of times when I plug it in, it does not always make a good connection, try that see if helps.
I'll have to plead ignorance on this. All I've ever done with my Battery Tender Plus units is plug it into the 12v socket in the back, then plug the "Plus" into a 110v socket and walk away....
I should have been more clear about my “sideways” comment. What I meant was when I was getting ready to measure the battery terminal voltage, in my convertible, I bumped into the cable and plug and moved it slightly back and forth. This then resulted in the Ctek showing an error code. Then I had to figure out the code, plug and unplug, and then recycle everything and then it all worked OK. I was getting a lot of relay on and off that started this whole adventure. In the end, I think my problem was that the plug was not making good electrical contact. Your twisting motion is the solution. We used to use the things going sideways phrase when odd electrical stuff happened during trying to fix complicated electronics.
