Android Auto was a mid year add. Yes, dealer should be able to add. The update was free back then, but I expect an hour labor charge to add now.

I pulled out the HMI module and send it to White and they added AA along with updating my GPS maps. There is turnaround time and the car will not run without the HMI, all info on their website.
*Just to add, you can buy a preprogrammed HMI from them too.

I have a 2016 and had Android Auto added. Simi Valley Chevrolet Service Writer's always seem to know the answers when I call them. They knew all about the Tranny Triple Flush and the Magnetic Ride Update.
When, I called them about the Android Auto they told me, depending on when the car was built in 2016 (early) would determine if I had the hardware. I would have to bring the car in so they could connect to something at GM to see if they could download the program.
I waited until I needed an oil change and did them both at the same visit. They were able to download the software. After, I figured out how to use it, I was up and running.

Bought my 2016 used at the end of 2017. Did not have Android Auto. Would rather poke my eye with a a sharp stick than have an Apple phone. Had the software updated at the dealer. Works great - don't know how I lived without it before.
