This is the crux of OEM systems which becomes more of a liability then an asset over the years. I heard theres a way to add other apps to it to use your phones apps, but those are bandaids
Careful, GM map updates are locked to the the car's VIN. There were threads here a while back that the latest update bricked the nav units! Maybe that is why here.com gave up on them.

There's a big reason I hate new cars, and their electronics will be their downfall in the longterm. Sad.....such a great car

That’s what I have heard too - I will just carry on with the older maps update I did a couple of years ago - it still seems to work just fine and if not, I can always use my phone apps.
