Hi,
I've been using my phone in the 2017 C7 for years without issue, however recently i've noticed that when I connect my Galaxy S22 to any USB port in the vette the infotainment system freezes up.
The software version is 84156709. I can't seem to get the system to update past that version.
Android auto has been updated by Google many times over the years and it now provide wireless (via bluetooth) android auto. I'm not sure when exactly it broke, however the Vette's android auto no longer works when connected to USB.
I've unpaired the phone with the vette, removed cached android auto devices, tried all 3 usb ports, tried multiple usb cables, and multiple Android phones. They all have the same behavior - the deck plays audio for a couple seconds, then freezes for a minute, then repeats. I dont have this problem with any other vehicle brands or head units.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Is 84156709 the "latest/last" version that will ever be available for C7s?
It prevents the screen projection from working, which is how to control waze, spotify, and other common android supported apps.
My daughter suggests changing connection type on your phone from data to charge or charge to data and try the cable again. She had a similar issue on her Honda. You can also turn off Android wireless in the Android developer settings.
BTW - wireless Android is wi-fi on our Subies - bluetooth does not have the bandwidth.
As suggested, turn off your wireless AA on the phone. The car does not support that.
Or you can try and buy a Motorola M1wireless dongle, connect it to the center console USB, then pair it with the phone.
That's the setup that I have. Other than the initial 10 or15 second lag at start up, it works flawlessly.
You’re definitely not the only one seeing this issue—it’s been a recurring complaint with the C7 infotainment systems once newer Android Auto updates rolled out. Unfortunately, GM hasn’t been great about pushing firmware past that 84156709 build, and many owners suspect it may indeed be the last version released. <!--td {border: 1px solid #cccccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->Cost Savings in the Long Run – While hiring developers has an upfront cost, custom automation and optimized software reduce labor expenses, mistakes, and downtime over time.
