To install a cat back exhaust is it necessary to remove the rear bumper (facia) ?Can this be accomplished without a lift ? I have an urge for more noise. I have had the fuse removed from the exhaust control since mile 350 and even that is too mild. My long gone C4 had a Borla whose sound I would like to duplicate. This possible project would be on a 2019 Stingray conv. Bob C
So to do cat-back, you’ll have to replace your xpipe and axle back exhaust systems which are sold separately. If you plan on getting long tube headers, you must buy those together as an xpipe that fits the factory primary cats won’t work with any long tube headers. If you currently have AFM valves in the exhaust, you’ll probably be sold a valve back exhaust which does not replace the pipes from the xpipe connection to the valves. You can buy simulators that attach to the AFM motors and then can buy an axle back system and not get a CEL. To replace the axle back system, you have to remove the lower fascia of the bumper. It’s pretty simple. Hardest part for me was removing the reflectors. I was told to push them out from the inside but couldn’t even see them from inside the fascia. I pulled them out and broke the middle clip on both. It appears to be holding strong.
Regarding the xpipe, if you don’t buy one that deletes the secondary cats, don’t bother. Speed Engineering and Extreme Online Store still make these. The big exhaust guys stopped due to EPA. These cats are not monitored so you won’t get a CEL.

Yes you need to remove the bottom rear fascia - not terribly difficult job if you take your time. Definitely easier on a lift too
