Finally time to break down and put the '14 Stingray automatic away for the winter here in the Northeast. So the age old question.........full or half full tank? Stabil or no Stabil? What's your opinion?
Full and half don't make a difference. The level needs to be below 1/4 to position the fuel level below the sending unit as recommended. You will hear equally as many people saying both. The way I look at it is that 1/4 won't hurt anything since the system is sealed eliminating the moisture concern that older cars used to have and on the plus side it may save a very large repair bill to drop the tanks and replace the sending unit and you get a fresh tank of gas in the spring.

According to John Deere for their machines... FULL tank with appropriate "stabilizer." This has worked for me in many, many vehicles for quite a long time. When JD changes their recommendation, I might consider it.

Full w/non ethanol. My opinion, keeping the sending unit in fuel will keep it from any additives or contaminants drying on it and building up deposits similar to hard water.
Been working for me the past 45 years, since we always have 4 or more vehicles some get to rest for the winter.😁
I dunno, they build 3/4 of a million dollar combines every day that can thresh whole stalks of corn into kernels and then set for a year in-between harvests, I'd say the folks over at John Deere probably know a thing or two about fuel stability . That being said Stabil is really just a feel good preventative thing, modern gas isn't going to turn stale in 3 months of setting unless your in some extreme climates. I would say the best advice is don't overthink it.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Diesel and Gasoline are not the same.
I have always gone into the start of every winter with less than a 1/4 tank of gas, but honestly for me it hasn't mattered because every winter since I got my C7 has been mild enough that I've been able to drive it at least 2-3 times per month. But just in case we get a brutal winter and it has to sit for many months, I don't want to risk having more than 1/4 tank and possibly damaging the fuel level sending unit.
