Default Full or Half??

Finally time to break down and put the '14 Stingray automatic away for the winter here in the Northeast. So the age old question.........full or half full tank? Stabil or no Stabil? What's your opinion?

Full and half don't make a difference. The level needs to be below 1/4 to position the fuel level below the sending unit as recommended. You will hear equally as many people saying both. The way I look at it is that 1/4 won't hurt anything since the system is sealed eliminating the moisture concern that older cars used to have and on the plus side it may save a very large repair bill to drop the tanks and replace the sending unit and you get a fresh tank of gas in the spring.

Full tank and stabil. Want to minimize air in tank that whose moisture will condense and mix into the gas.

According to John Deere for their machines... FULL tank with appropriate "stabilizer." This has worked for me in many, many vehicles for quite a long time. When JD changes their recommendation, I might consider it.

With all due respect, what does John Deere know about Corvettes that GM World Class Certified Technician, Field Service Representative, and Corvette Specialist Paul Koerner and Chevrolet Engineering don't?

Full w/non ethanol. My opinion, keeping the sending unit in fuel will keep it from any additives or contaminants drying on it and building up deposits similar to hard water.
Been working for me the past 45 years, since we always have 4 or more vehicles some get to rest for the winter.😁

I would say the best advice is don't overthink it.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Diesel and Gasoline are not the same.

Not saying they are lol but Deere sells gas motors too, I'm just saying the guys statement wasn't that outlandish.

Same.

I do ensure the last few fill-ups are with non-ethanol gas though.

I have always gone into the start of every winter with less than a 1/4 tank of gas, but honestly for me it hasn't mattered because every winter since I got my C7 has been mild enough that I've been able to drive it at least 2-3 times per month. But just in case we get a brutal winter and it has to sit for many months, I don't want to risk having more than 1/4 tank and possibly damaging the fuel level sending unit.
