Default New to C7

I have a 68 and just got a 2014 with 3,700 miles on it. 2 quick questions. #1 If your car is running in the driveway and you go to the house to get something does the car shut off? I'm new to the "No key thing". #2 I have the battery tender option plugged in but where is a good place to run the cord?

Congratulations! A '14 with 3700 on the clock? That's pretty amazing! I'd think about having everything checked/changed. (fluids etc) I'm currently doing that on my '15 that has 13k

1) My car never shuts off unless I shut it off. May be a setting somewhere.
2) Unless my car is going to be sitting for a couple of weeks or longer (in SW Florida) I don't put on the Tender. If I do, I have it on a Battery Tender Plus, I plug it in and lower the back hatch but don't close it. That way when I get in it, it'll "yell" at me that the back hatch isn't closed so I can't forget it.

Good luck and enjoy!!

Nice cars. There are a lot of different settings for the locks, and other items on the C7. The internet and the manual has a bunch of good reading. I have had my car over a year and still learning about it.

When I don't close the back hatch all the way there is a light that stays on. Does it go out after a preset time? BTW mine is a convertible and I haven't been a Vette owner if the term "rear hatch" only applies to the coupe..

Mines a vert too. My first. Should have done it sooner! As for the light, mine goes out after some period of time, never really timed it.

Can you share some photos? Include the C3. I have always liked C3s.

Can you define "running in the driveway" please? If you remote start it, maybe about 10 to 15 minutes? My F250 will kill the motor if you remote start it and not activate the run mode by pushing the start button. If you actually start it by getting into the car and decided you forgot something, it should not cut off till you run out of gas. This way, if you get out of the car and the wife takes over and you forget to give her your keys, it still runs till you shut it off.

I don't bother with the tender since I am always driving it. I drive the truck in the winter but not a fan of the truck. When I am storing it, I plug it in the back and drape the wires out the trunk and close it.

If you use the battery tender just run the cord directly out of the hatch area and close the hatch. There is plenty of room for the cord to run through the space between the hatch and the body. The weather strip will squeeze it slightly so you get a seal to prevent small critters from accessing the car.

The car will keep running until there is no more gas - but not a good thing to let it run while unattended.

As for the battery tender, I just plug it into the receptacle in the trunk, run the cord over the passenger side and then lower the hatch down to where it touches the weatherstripping.

Beware- It will keep running and can be taken if unattended even with the FOB not present. They'll just have to worry about the next start if they ever shut it off.

Now, remote start can only be done with the car locked and has a time limit of about 10 minutes unless switched to drive mode.

Also a remote start running car cannot be driven off if unattended.

The Convertible has a trunk (unless it is a C4), which has a lid.

Also, check your local ordnance for leaving your unoccupied car running. They will give you a ticket around here!

Very nice! I like the script “Stingray” instead of the fish behind the side vent. And the subtle pin stripe. Is that the Stingray fish decal on the hood?
