Oil temp not increasing.
Hey guys, bought a 14 Z51 a couple weeks ago and have noticed the oil temp gauge never shows a change from baseline. Anyone experience anything like this before? If it’s an oil temp sensor would you expect the CEL to be on? Haven’t put a scanner on it yet so don’t know if there’s any codes being thrown.
I have a 2014. The gauge on my car at that location is different. Mine doesn't have that small circle. Maybe someone changed that location to a different gauge.
And what he said about the digital gauges.
Your 2014 does have that gauge - mine did. His display in Post #1 is set to Sport / Info mode. Then scroll to the right and add the pocket gauges. The open circle is where gear selection should display. There are only a couple displays added since 2014 - horsepower comes to mind. One of the timer displays went away. Track / performance multiple parameter display changed for 2018-19.
I have a 2014. On my car that is transmission temp, not engine temp. Maybe yours is different. You need to go to settings and change the gauge back to engine. The trans temp comes up a lot slower than engine temp. If you are not driving, not sure that will come ever up.
The Sport mode pocket gauges are user selected by scrolling to the right. The White little arrows <>^dn tell you that user settings are available in that direction. Gray arrows <>^dn mean there are no user selections available.
Sit in the car and play with the displays - that's the best way to learn.
So I’d ran the car in the garage for maybe a half hour and was able to see the oil temp increasing. Changing to the performance mode and seeing them digitally in sport mode helped to see it clearly too. Thanks to all of your recommendations.
