Could have been worse!! Way back when I had a Mercedes Benz SLK I went to a Tire Kingdom to get all new tires. They are one of the bigger tire chains. The SLK like the Corvette has staggered tires.
So when they finished installing the new tires, I paid and went over to my car. Something caught my eye that didn't look right. Looking at one of the front tires, the tire itself looked like it was about to pop off the wheel! That's when I realized the moron who installed the tires put the wider rear tires on the front wheels and visa versa!! And this was a tire place!! You would think the guy would realize that the tires did not fit right on the wheels! Boy was I pissed something fierce! Had to wait again for them to get it right. Even complained to the corporate office of Tire Kingdom!
Corvette related, I brought my 2016 Stingray to the local Chevy dealer for a set of Michelin tires. I specifically ordered Run Flats. Tires came in and brought the car in to have them installed. All good....so I thought. After driving a few days I went to register the tires on the Michelin website. On close inspection I realized they ordered the wrong tires!! They were the non run flats. Since the original paperwork my service advisor wrote up called out the correct tires, they dealer had to take them back. I ended up with the correct tires and the dealer stuck with a set of slightly used ones!
Bassmobile: I got new Michelin PSS runflats from the dealer about 2 mos ago. Was I supposed to register them on the Michelin website? If yes, do you have a link?
Ok, here's what happened. I went back yesterday to get this tire screw up rectified. I had a 10am appt., and when I got there they said the tires hadn't arrived yet. WTF!!! So the manager jumped in his truck and went to get them. Long story short it took over two hours total to get two tires mounted and balanced. Needless to say they won't be seeing me any time soon.
That's not the point. Had I not found they put the wrong tires on they would have never done it. THEN after contacting them and making an appt. they STILL didn't have the correct tires, and it took over two hours to get them mounted and balanced. A job that should take 20min. tops!!
I always check before having anything installed on my vehicles. I had ordered run flat Michelins for my Corvette. The tire shop called me stating that they were in. I got there and noticed that they were non-run flats. They apologized and ordered the run flats. It was no big deal since I was not going out of town for a while.
I like the idea of removing the valve stem caps before having tires installed. See there, I learned something from this forum again.
Slightly off subject but Bassmobile brought this up.

That's true. However, mine were a gift from my son. They have the C7 flag on them. I should have mentioned that.
Fair enough. I thought you were keeping the black plastic ones and I have a few saved simply because I lose them myself by dropping them when pumping up the tires or put them on top of the machine and it gets blown away, etc. etc.
It is had to hire educated help these days. Wonder why our DNC and press got locked and screaming in front of the Department of Education building on Friday.

Education is one thing. We need to have more high tech stuff more than blue collar manufacturing. However the problem in the workforce is the bad work attitude. Education cannot fix this.
You really "cant trust anyone, even for the simplest things"..
Just last night I ordered green sauce for my burrito, opened the bag and wouldn't you know it.. red sauce!! It was actually good though, and I will order it again next time.
We all make mistakes, it's how we deal with them that matters..
