Default Brake Screech

My brakes screech almost every time I am in reverse and really bad after I wash the car, and it sits overnight. Can changing just the pads eliminate this or should I hand pads and rotors. I have looked at the Powerstop pads and also the complete kit. On my C5 and C6 I had Hawk.

Why not let them squeal? Good brakes squeal.

Just swapped my pads today for the same reason, squeaked like crazy. Went with PowerStop Z23-1001 pads.

Try about 50 mph, hit the brakes medium hard to 5 mph, repeat about 4 times. Don't go crazy. See if this beds them in again.

If that doesn't work, then consider new pads.

After washing (the car) the brake rotors rust a bit so not uncommon for them to stick a bit when moving afterward.

When do you wash the brake rotors?

The brake rotors typically get wet while washing/rinsing the wheels.

The very first "mod" I did when I got the car (4/21) was to switch the very dust producing OEM pads for Powerstop. 20k miles later, never squeaked, and minimal dust. Good luck. The squeaking would drive me crazy, too!
