There was no PDR available in the 14 model
PDR was introduced in 15
PDR quality improved in 16 and remained the same through 19 without further upgrades (at least that I'm aware of)
I don't know if there were non-OEM parts to upgrade

There was a software update for the PDR at one point. I don't recall if it improved video quality, but it did remove voice recording inside the car while the PDR was recording. If you want this software upgrade, I think I still have it somewhere. Send me a PM.

March of 2016 there was a factory software update to improve the video quality of the PDR.

Initial release for 2015 model year:

I would say the pictures were taken in a country that drives on the left side of the road. The street sign next to the house on the left is not something seen in the US.
