My partial answer is 'I don't know if it's your best bet, but it doesn't seem outrageous'.

I estimate the battery price at the dealer in the $140 to $160 range. If that's correct, the remaining $60 to $80 is labor, which seems like a bargain.

If you do have a dealer change it, check your rear carpet before and after the change, to make sure it wasn't ripped where they had to fold it back for battery access.

Also, if your styrofoam cover over the battery is still in place and unbroken, check that out, too, before leaving the dealer.

And one more thing (Columbo, right?), I hate to mention it, but I've read stories where dealer techs break or forget to reconnect the little black wire to the negative terminal.

Sheesh!! With everything I'm suggesting you check, can you do it yourself and know it's done right?

I haven't changed the battery in my car yet and it's been a while since I've changed one. But, if that price includes a solid battery with installation costs, that sounds like a good price.

The average cost for a Chevrolet Corvette Battery Replacement is between $346 and $358. Labor costs are estimated between $44 and $56 while parts are typically priced around $302. This range does not include taxes and fees, and does not factor in your unique location.

Napa Legend for $149, I installed it myself. List was $239. That is with a wholesale discount because I know the store manager. He told me they never charge full list price and is usually $199. $221 sounds right from a dealer and if installed that's a good price.

Sounds reasonable to me. Yes there’s cheaper out there, but from the dealer it’s reasonable

And one would have to be nuts to pay this. Easy enough to do yourself...

Just go to Auto Zone, Advance Auto, O'Reilly, etc. Unless the Dealer's battery price is the exact same as the auto parts store or you plan on having the dealer install it there's really no reason to take it to them for a battery. You're typically going to pay out the *** for a battery that was probably made in the same factory as the ones at one of the auto parts stores.

Edit: Looking at Autozone and Advance Auto the battery for my '14 is between $199-249 depending on whether you go with their cheap or expensive non-agm batteries. So assuming the dealer's batteries have the same specs/warranty then that's not an unreasonable price.

That is a fair price for parts and labor.

I would go with a OEM battery. I just replaced my OE battery in my 2014 and battery was manufactured July 2014 and still going strong, but I knew for a piece of mind I needed to replace it. Right now at GM Parts online the batteries are 15% off and pickup at nearest dealer. Bob

Go for it Alan, that's a good price for a dealer install.

From a dealer that price does sound reasonable for the battery and install.

Replace with a "new" one BEFORE the old one fails... GM's stuff may leave one "dead" in the boondocks, as has happened countless times thru out history.... yeah, and without a ride or a start... Replace battery sooner rather than later.

It's probably overkill, but I typically replace batteries once they hit five years

My guess, that price is to install the battery, extra to purchase the battery.
