It's about that time (yes, well overdue) to purchase new tires.
Any recommendations on new? I'm a fairly aggressive driver (paddle shifting 90% of the time), but I don't track the car and would like to get decent mileage and of course maintain a good look.
I'm pricing the Michelin Pilots: Sport and All Season, and the Continental Extreme Contact E02....all around the same price.
This question is asked weekly. It all depends on you and how you intend on using the car. Do you need summer or all season tires? Do you want runflat or non-run flat? Do you take long trips or stay within your town? Are you worried about getting a flat?
The common two tires are the Continentals or Michelins All Seasons. The third would be the Michelin Summer tires. All three are performance tires so it's a matter of which one fits your need. Only you can decide that.
For me personally I live in the midwest and want to drive below temperatures of 50 degrees. I went with all seasons. I also don't want to hassle with a flat tire so I went with run flats. That left me with the Michelin AS4s so that's what I got. I've only had them for a few weeks but I don't regret it.
I have been very pleased with my Michelin all season runflat tires.
Myself as well. Now have over 2 years with them as replacements on my 2019 Z06 vert. These tires are now the factory standard tires on the C8 Stingrays.
Well you have no info in your profile and don't say where you are so depending on location, I'd go with either the Pilot Sport or Pilot All Season run flats.
Like others have stated I too would recommend the AS 4’s run flats. I changed over a moth or so ago from OEM original tires on my 2019 GS. World of difference but the old tires were I’m sure getting to be rock hard so any new tire would feel like a cloud in comparison. But I would do the AS 4’s unless you plan on tracking it or really pushing the car hard on the street for a substantial amount of time, and even then people have said they do pretty well.
We can't street park between Dec 1 and Mar 31 so that is when I store the C7 and sit my John Deere with the snowblower in it's place. Rest of the year, I can street park the F250 which is too tall to be inside. I really hate to play "musical cars" so the F250 sits on the street. So for me, 4 season tires aren't going to help much either way.. That said. I want run flats so that if the wife or I have a flat, we don't have to pull over and try get it fixed or wait for a tow truck.
Car came with summer run flats and I changed it to summer run flats last year and it was a HUGE difference. Probably because the rubber was old. I'm more familiar with Michelins so I stuck with them.
Thinking this is the year for new tires on mine as well.
I don't drive my car hard enough to need the all-out performance of the original tires (or tires like them). Plus, I hate all the little rocks they pick up and throw and also hate the Ackerman effect that is so pronounced with the original tires. Also, not a fan of run-flats.
So, I am leaning toward the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 non run-flats.
Would love to hear from anyone that has those tires - what's your experience been?

On the wife's A8 they're good. Both sets are new since they were bought last year. Not much real difference.
We have two sets of wheels/tires, one set with Michelin Summer tires (PSS) and one set with Michelin A/S tires (AS4). We switch back and forth every Spring/Fall.
Both sets are runflats.
The PSS grip better in warm weather, but not a huge difference. If I didn't do autocross in summer, I'd just use the AS4 all year round.
Where we drive, a flat would be a big problem and so we stay with runflats.
I just changed from oem to Michelin all season 4 run flats and like the new ones much better than the summer only tires. Feels smoother and grippier and no more squeaking on tight turns.
Well, I made my choice and pulled the trigger on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 tires.
As I noted above, I am willing to give up a little "all-out" performance for better day-to-day driveability. Mostly, I wanted 1) to stop picking up every pebble on the road and throwing it against my car and 2) stop the pronounced Ackerman effect. Additional benefits will be better cool weather performance (I don't drive in the winter anyway) and a quieter, smoother ride with the non run-flat design.
Tires are ordered. Once installed and I have driven on them a bit, I will come back with my impressions.
