As luck would have it, I was scheduled today for a Carvana pickup. Pulled my car out of the garage today and the check engine light comes on (canceled the pickup.) Pulled the code and it was a P0301 (misfire on cylinder #1.)
Scheduled tow 7am tomorrow. Back to the dealership that it just left on Friday for the shudder issue. I'm wondering now if it was the shudder issue and just a misfire.
10k miles on my car and I had this happed 2 other times. Another reason I'm dumping my Corvette. GOURGOUS car... POS under the hood.
Got a 2019 Porsche Certified Cayman to replace the Corvette. Guarantied not to live at the dealership like my Corvette.
Thanks for letting me vent.....
And a P00301 is not covered under the GMPP warranty... So more $$ into the car before its gone.. PLUS, PAY FOR A TOW.
The issue was fixed the first time (about 2 years ago.) Single spark plug replaced ($340.00.) This time, it felt like the shudder issue and the dealership did a second triple flush AND replaced another single spark plug. Drove it home with no issues. Then 2 days later, it's dead again with the P0301.
I'm thinking the issue was a missing issue and NOT a shudder problem and the dealership hit me for 1k the triple flush that I really didn't need.
A Porsche can't live at the dealership more than my Corvette did.
I'll find out.. This will be the first time in about 25+ years without at least one Corvette in my garage. I will miss it... But not the hassle of owning one.
Just a thought changing a spark plug for the same issue 3 time. Tells you its not the spark plug the cause is something else in the system.
The Code P0301 says not to drive the car. And with it missing so bad, would not be too good for the car. Tow job.... $172.00
Stayed at the dealership and waiting for the car. Listening to others tell the horror stories about their cars. The dealership pulled a P0300 and P0301 and said that it seems multiple spark plug were misfiring. The P0300 just could not determine the one. So, changed all the spark plugs. Car runs like new now!
SHOCKING,,,,, The dealership did not charge me anything. But I did pay 1k for a triple flush I probably didn't need. Call it even.
As my trust on the car is long gone, I'll still selling it.
A good tech along with a good scanner or scope should have easily determined which spark plug was causing the issue and just replaced that one if it was proven to be a bad plug. There are way too many things that could cause a misfire besides just plugs.
But I must admit that I have always replaced plugs in a complete set in the past when I was convinced that it truly was a bad plug.

Agree... But its my understanding that the P0301 is a misfire on plug #1. The P0300 is a misfire too, but the system was unable to determine what plug was misfiring OR it didn't misfire enough. When this happened 2 years ago, they should have replaced all the plugs. BUT.... 10k and the plugs are bad??? I do feel my car has other issues in the fuel system.
My brother called me about the car and he wanted to buy it. Then I told him my issues. I would NOT sell this car to anyone I know.
CARVANA coming to pick it up tomorrow -- Wednesday.
2 best days of owning a Corvette --- The day you buy it and the day you sell it.
Dealerships, warranty, most manufactures will only warranty, reimburse the dealership, only for the one faulty item, ie: only one plug not all of them. The same for other multiple items, brakes, shocks, tires etc........
