Were Z06s and Grand Sports supplied with the same stock spoiler when new? I ask because as I see pics of both models, many of which seem to have some sort of aftermarket modification, I can't tell if they started life with the same spoiler or something different, and I'm left wondering.
Yes, they were the same. Stage 1 has really low "wings" that are level with the spoiler and hard to see. Stage 2 has the left and right raised "wings" and Stage 3 has the stage 2 wings and the clear center piece that's adjustable.
Thanks, Spoolin. I guess I've been seeing the various Stage installations and didn't realize they were all built on the same base.
Appreciate your info.
Anytime brother! There are other aftermarket options too that are slightly different. For example, I have the APR rear spoiler and it's a permanent stage 2 that you can add the stage 3 to, but I can't go down to a stage 1.
Stage 3 adds the clear center section in the middle that's adjustable up or down for more or less downforce.
However, the GS didn't get the rear center wicker when the Z07 option was purchased. The Z06 Stage 3 setup is different than the GS Stage 3 setup. GM said the LT1 didn't have the power to pull the full Z06/Z07 Stage 3 setup through the air. I know the center wicker adds a lot of drag to my Z06 and I can feel it holding the car back when speeds get to 140 and above. At 140 mph the engine rpm is 6200, where at WOT the LT4 produces close to 650 HP about 200 rpm short of peak power rpm) and 500 lb ft of torque while the LT1 produces a shade less than 460 HP (rpm is just past peak power rpm) and 200 lb ft of torque. About 200 HP and 200 lb-ft of torque difference means the GS has to work a lot harder at those speeds. Lots of GS owners added the center wicker after they purchased the car.

Bill
A friend has a Z06 and after he installed the clear center wicker he said he could feel the difference.

I bought my car with a Stage 3. I didn't mind the center section but slightly restricts visibility. Plus I have a GS and the center section says "Z06" molded into he plastic....which my car is not lol
Also annoying to clean the dirt/water where they overlap and bolt onto the winglets. I found a detailing power dryer comes in REAL handy.

Good suggestion.
I have had good results just using a very thin microfiber towel that can squeeze into the spaces around the bolts (but yes, it is a pain).
