Came this close to swapping my 2012 GS M6 for this 2017 GS A8 - C7 only has 2200 miles on the clock, it is a brand new car. Did a short test drive in the rain, C7 is a completely different car, more comfy, cushy, tight as a drum.
What didn't you like about the C7?
Was it the fact that it wasn't a manual?
Or was it the comfy & cushy ride?
Regardless of the Corvette generation, I would never consider one with an automatic transmission.
The C6 definitely feels more raw than the C7; which is an attribute that I miss, even with my C7 Z06.
It was a combination of things, yes one of them was trans, and yes i didn't expect the comfort level of the C7 (it felt to me like a Cadillac) and i have made a lot of upgrades and performance mods to my C6 that someone else may not appreciate as much as i do. I had been thinking recently i was ready for an automatic, but i realized how much fun the M6 is. I don't drive my C6 very often but when i do ripping through the gears gives its own marvelous level of satisfaction.
They made me a fantastic offer for my car and the C7 is priced well below it's 2236 mile odometer, still new car smell, under the hood not a speck of dust anywhere, absolutely a gorgeous Corvette inside and out, i'm in love !!!
. I'm seriously considering buying the C7 and keeping my C6.
The date codes on the C7 Michelins are April 2017, but it is priced well enough to offset four new tires.
Just from my own experience, if you really enjoy your manual, you will regret swapping it for an auto. Maybe not immediately, but likely within a reasonable period of time. I've gone from a C3 M4 to a C5 M6 to a C7 M7 now, and they've all been a blast as daily drivers...traffic or open road. Prior to that I did exactly what you described...going from a manual sports car to an auto...and within months I wish I hadn't. Never did that again.
Your C6 is sweet and I can understand why it would be hard to move away from it. The C5 was less sophisticated than the C7 so the difference in going to the C7 was quite a jump up...but sticking with the manual made it a smooth transition and 6 years later I have no regrets.

In the end you have to be the one that is happy with the car you drive. I have owned many manual transmission Corvettes as well as automatic equipped Corvettes. Never have I not enjoyed one of the cars just because of a manual or automatic transmission. I can certainly have fun in either and my current A6 C7 is a blast to drive.

I've had 7 Corvettes and they have all been manual trans cars. Two years ago I bought a 4003 mile 2015 Z06 with A8. The Z06 is not a cushy ride. Pretty stiff and I've owned C5 and C6Zs in the past. I really don't miss the manual on this car. A8 and 650 ft.lbs of torque is a lot of fun.

Nice !! C7Z is an animal !! what made you decide to get an automatic on this one after seven manuals ?
I bought a C5, manual and loved it. Sold it and bought a C7 manual- it was too cushy, too smooth and not engaging enough even though it was a manual. Beautiful Vette.
Within 2 months I sold it and bought a C5 ZO6, low milage, pristine condition and it's the best ride and body of them all.
I completely understand where you're coming from.
I hope I don't make a mistake by buying an HTC C8, because I'd likely sell the C5 (and I might regret it!)
Hopefully, you have no regrets with your decision. They don't make C7s anymore, fortunately, there are plenty of them out there. Maybe you'll find a M7 that meets your criteria. As the years go by, parts availability for C5 and C6 get more limited... get a C7 and you won't be disappointed.
I love my 2019 C7 GS with A8... classic, aggressive look with America's true sports car.
