2014 base stingray in sport mode noticed yesterday when taking off from a dead stop to merge onto a freeway. Pretty aggressive start to get to 70 but got there quickly lol when I let off go pedal car stayed in same gear with high rpm when I stepped on pedal again rpm went right back up like a no shift to higher gear. Put in neutral and back in gear and everything was normal. Also did a few non aggressive starts and shifted normal. Is this a normal thing ? I was thinking maybe trans is set up to hold rpm when aggressively driving? It does have a solar throttle controller but is only set to 4. Thanks

I've read about this built in gear matching thing. It seems this could be pretty scarry to many not used to high revs...how do you immediately cxl this? Also, wont the rev limiter kill those really high revs?
Thank you

As Jack said, just use your paddle to shift into the next higher gear. If you are letting the transmission shift algorithm decide when to shift, it should not take you into rev limiter.
If you are tooling along in Drive, you can use the paddles up or down and the car will go to the new gear you selected. If you are taking it easy, after about 10 (?) seconds the car will go back to shifting for itself. If you stay aggressive with the throttle, IIRC it will stay in Manual and show that on the HUD even though you left the selector in Drive.
Sounds goofy but works OK. But if I want to use the paddles, I usually select Manual first.
