Hey everyone. Another thing I wanted to run past everyone. The other day I drove the Grand Sport and it took about 3 miles to get to normal operating temperature. Several miles later I noticed that the tach had the red line move and it acted like it was not at operating temp. I checked the gauge and it was running about 172 degrees. It then went back over 175 and the redline went back to normal. I am thinking the thermostat stuck open or maybe the previous owner put a lower temp thermostat. I am in Central Florida so the outside temperature was about 92 degrees. Any thoughts?
That's exactly what mine did when the Thermostat died last year. Tried to use my GMPP at Moran Chevrolet in Clinton Township and they said, nothing wrong with the car and refused to fix it unless I paid out of pocket. Needless to say I bought the thermostat and changed it myself, its not hard but I had the GMPP so I wanted to just use it. It expired this year in June and I never used it once, but after my C6 engine almost grenaded itsself over a stuck open oil pump I wasn't taking any chances.

I got that "nothing wrong and so warranty won't cover it" story back when our 2001 started running too cool.
I said "replace the thermostat and check the original. If the original is OK, then I'll pay for the repair out of my own pocket. If the original is defective (staying open), then it's a warranty repair." They replaced the thermostat and the bill said "warranty repair".
Did the same thing on our 2017 last year.

I tried that and they said, nope we can't replace it without prior authorization from the warranty company. They offered to either do it for $600 or to not do anything.
