I like the idea of that design. I think it might work if the silver part was transparent. It would be more subtle.

My wife always tell me, about this rule that women use when getting ready for a night out. They get all their jewelry on, necklace, earrings, bracelets, and then take one thing off. It's easy to over-do it.
It would be nay for me, but as others have said, I would leave it on for as long as you feel like it, you can always take it back off.
Any mod that I have done, I usually want an exit strategy, to get back to where I was before. If I can do that, I usually go ahead and complete it, leave it on, and then decide later to change it back, or not.
Only once have I drilled holes where it was not an easy "un-do", and visible. I regret it still.
This one is easy, it's a vinyl thing that comes off. Go for it no harm no foul. keep it around for the 4th of July.
