If i were to change the Z06 brake pads to Powerstops to cut down on dust what are the part #s and approx. cost, and is it about the same procedure as a Z51?

OK so the J56 is the standard on the Z06? I am looking to buy a 2016 Z06 with very low milage (6400) and I will want to go with the Powerstop pads as i did on my Z51, I thought the price and change out procedure was much different on the Z, I'm just doing my homework before i buy , Thanks so much.

I went through the same thing. I wanted to avoid the carbon ceramic when I bought my GS last year. All Z06 and GS that are NON Z07 have the J56 steel vented rotor brakes which is what I have and listed pads for here. If you get a Z or GS with Z07 package it has the carbon ceramic, or J57 coded brake package. Very expensive to change, though they are supposed to last forever. Trust me unless you are going to track a ton you dont need CC brakes. The stock Brembo steel brakes are insane. The stock pads stop amazing but as you already know, dust like hell! I couldn't keep my wheels clean. I installed the parts I listed for you above and what a difference. I would say you lose 10% bite but I have all season Michelins and if it makes sense I felt the stock pads were so much better than the tire. The z26 pads are so much better on the street. Beware if you track with the Z26, I have heard they do not handle it well at all. I saved my stock Brembo pads in case I ever decide to venture on a track. I had never done pads myself and believe it or not these brembo calipers are easier than a standard car. Literally 1 bolt and 2 pins in the fronts and 2 pins on the rears and the old pads slide out, new in. I bought some cheap clamps on Amazon and some punches with the assistance of some guys on here and learned to jack the car safely. I swapped all 8 pads and thoroughly cleaned all 4 wheels and calipers in under 2 hours with zero issue. Look on youtube for how to apply the lube etc. it was very easy. If you would like me to share you my amazon list of what I purchased feel free to PM me and I'll direct email them all to you. Easy with the right tools and a low profile jack and pucks. Hope this helps brother!
I think I got all pads for about $160 shipped from Amazon. Not bad at all.
Good info jd no i will not track it but ya the main reason to go Powerstops is the dust, sounds like the same swap as i did on my Z51 C7, very easy job, I have a Quick jack so that makes the job easier, I'm still thinking about buying the Z06 just haven't pulled the trigger yet! Thanks again
If the car you are looking at is a Z07 with the CCM rotors and if the car hasn't been tracked the pads and rotors will outlast the car. The CCM brakes work well but don't last when used on track so I went to AP Racing brakes as have a lot of other forum members.
