Recently became friends with an alligator north of Memphis . Luckily the bumper is salvageable , but several under body parts need replacing . Can anyone lead me to a schematic of those parts , more specifically I need the center section that the bumper mounts to . I have removed the pans and this part shows two bolts holding it in place. I feel lucky to have survived -it got two cars ahead of me and one car behind me -Thanks for any help
Do you have the full front bumper off yet? I had to get mine repainted. Removed it 3 times. Are you going to have it fixed, painted, then install it yourself? Mine is also yellow. The yellow is difficult to match. You will need a very good paint shop.
I had a repair done before . They blended the paint where none of the bumper meeting the body had new paint .This damage is at the bottom so I hope the same results happen . I originally purchased a pre painted bumper from an online supplier- wasn’t close!!
If you remove the bumper cover. Make sure you note the position of the brackets the cover attach to. When you install the new cover you want it to match the edges and not be crooked.
The front bumper attaches to the edges of the fender with brackets. There are two brackets, one on each side of the head light. In the pic, one has blue tape by it, the outer one you can see the 3 sections of the bracket. When you install the bumper, you want the bumper edge to line up with the fender edge. These brackets adjust the alignment. It's a pain in the butt to snap the bumper onto the brackets and then have to remove them. If you don't have to remove the brackets is the best answer. If you have to remove them, make note how they align so you can reinstall them correctly.
Info on removing the bumper:
When removing the bumper. The two connections around the headlights can be difficult. You have to push the bumper towards the gap, like you are trying to close the gap, then lift straight up.
