I've had 2 3lt's and haven't had a problem with either of 'em <knock on wood> And I'm in SW Florida where the top's NEVER up. Maybe it has something to do with the day of the week they're made or something
It's all about the heat/cold cycles based on me watching it this summer.
If mine sits in the heat it separates, then it cools and it sticks. My guess is that if you never experience wide temp swings you never have the issue as the glue and/or leather never really have issues.
Chemicals, and other things I think don't help. But its basically anything that will cause the glue to deteriorate or cause the leather to change shape (I see stretch marks in my leather at certain angles). I think the leather being "shrunk" is actually the first issue, after that the force on the glue is increased and the temp cycles cause the glue to weaken and then the lack of glue and the leather pulling cause it to bubble and lift.
I can't avoid temp cycles, even sleeping in my attached garage it gets cold.
