Android users having issues connecting?
My Samsung S24 will not connect to android auto in my 2017 GS. It has never had a problem. Now I get a red screen message saying the software is not up to date, make sure date and time are set and Google play services are up to date.

Have you gone to the play store and checked to see if the Android Auto app up to date?

Update. I have not investigated the wired AA issue. I got a wireless dangle and it worked great on our 13hr drive from SC to Niatic Connecticut.
