provides a decent tutorial. (I found it helpful to disconnect the OBD2 port and hood release from the dash.)
They had my module for only 2-3 days before I received a message the update was complete and it was on its way back to me. Their $35 charge for UPS Ground return shipping was excessive and unnecessary. Reinstalling the module was somewhat easier than removing it. Good luck!
Removing the HMI module is a bit of a contortionist act but, aside from cramped quarters and uncomfortable positions, not that difficult. This video provides a decent tutorial. (I found it helpful to disconnect the OBD2 port and hood release from the dash.)

How much was their updating reprograming charge if you already have the nav map?
I use google maps from my phone through android auto.
It always worked well for me the few times I had to use a GPS. The biggest issue was the GM map updates, which were about 2 years behind. I was one of the fortunate few who got the last usable update before the one that bricked some C7 owners' Nav systems. GM cutoff distribution of that update and never issued another one.

One should know what they are talking about before they make rude comments.
I have updated three times. I updated on the last one and fortunately was one of the few that it worked, after three attempts.
I run the native GPS as well as WAZE. WAZE is for official vehicles and road hazards.
The native GPS has given me shortcuts going through SoCal on the weekends that WAZE did not tell me about. It also tells me about current traffic conditions.
The other reason I like it, s o much, is combined with the HUD, my eyes never leave the road. This has saved parts on my front end numerous times. You never know what is going to fall off the vehicle in front of you

This is true - I updated mine several years ago and when I went to update it again, it was not available. If I need something other then the factory GPS, I just use Waze.
