We just took our 17 GS on our longest road trip since we've owned it. SC to Niantic Connecticut. We got in Saturday morning with no issues. Saturday around noon I moved the car over in the driveway. It cranked fine but when I turned the car off the bell kept ringing. I thought that was odd but did not investigate.
About 6 hours later, we went out to leave for dinner. We got in, all lights worked but when I pushed the start button I just hear a click and that is when the Battery charging system warning came on.
I bought the car in 2020 and have never replaced the battery. The car only had 2k on it when I bought it so my guess is, the battery is OEM.
Im thinking the battery is probably toast but thought I would post the symptoms and ask a couple questions.
Sound like a battery to you guys? I will pull it and have it checked.
I am in Niantic Connecticut. Any suggestions on where I can get a good battery on Sunday afternoon?
Recommendation on Battery brand that I can find?
we are here till Friday but I need to replace it either today or tomorrow.
I've used AC Delco Professionals in all my Corvettes....Everstart Batteries which you can pick up at Walmart are good...you should get a battery with the highest RC (Reserve Capacity) that you can...always a good idea to check the charging system after replacement and if this testing is over your head an auto electrical shop can do it for you....it only takes a few minutes.
If you can find a place that provides the Delco Gold batteries on a weekend, go with that. It sounds like your original Delco lasted close to 8 years. A lot of auto parts stores will sell you a battery but will refuse to install it due to concerns about damaging your car (tearing carpet around the battery, breaking the ground sense wire on the ground cable, accidentally blowing the fuses on the positive battery post, etc, etc). O'Reilly's sells the GM Gold batteries, but the stores I went to refused to install the new battery if I purchased it from them. I ended up going to a dealer and paying $60 more for the battery installed in the car.
Yeah I'd get an AC Delco Gold at the dealer (42 month not 36). Let them install it. You're looking at like $270 total. Just not sure they can get you in that fast. If you're doing it yourself a Chevy/Buick/GMC dealer should have one in stock. These are very common batteries at the dealerships.
How was switching the "LITTLE BLACK WIRE"? Did you keep your car on a battery tender?
Everything was straightforward just very tight. The old Delco battery did not have a handle so it was a little tough to remove. The new battery had a center handle and went right in.
My car is a daily driver so I have never needed a tender.

When I bought my 2019 GS in 2023, I did the same. Purchased a battery to replace the original, and took it to GM dealership for $60 installation charge. That worked great.
So many C7 owners report electrical problems when their battery is getting weak.

Definitely sounds like the battery to me. Once it starts getting old the car starts to go bonkers and everything starts to malfunction. Id go with the DELCO gold 48 month
Just realized you changed it out already. Glad it worked out for you
