Modern batteries don't give a warning like slow cranking like old batteries used to. They'll work one day and fail the next. The warning I found on my C5 was that electronic pre-sets (like what displays on the HUD) would revert to the stock settings during cranking.
If that should happen I will certainly post the occurrence and results. But it has been my experience that the battery will give you "some" advanced notice when it is about to fail. Thanks!
This is gerat life out of a battery. My rule of thumb is to replace bettery if 5 years or older. This is based on Experience. My 2008 Honda accord, ourchased new, the battery died right around 5 years without warning. Started the car, turned it off at a gas station and it would not start. Other 2 cars both 2012 VWs, battries died right around 5year mark without any warning
I will replace my 2017 Z06 battery this spring, battery always on tender and load testing tests show battery is still like new.. but yeah you never know at this point could last a few years or a few minutes. I guess they made a mistake with my batteries manufacturing and did it right
Wow! Here in Phoenix, they say to change batteries every two years!!!
I'm in Phoenix and your point is pretty accurate with under the hood batteries where the operating temps are so hot when daily driven. The C7 being located inside the more climate friendly passenger compartment and other vehicles like my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee, should go four years pretty easily especially if it's kept properly maintained/charged. So hey, there's some good news for a change!
On our previous Corvettes, I replaced the battery every 3 years and never had any problems. With our current 2017 C7, I tried to go 4 years and the battery died just weeks before 4 years. Car was driven frequently and kept on a CTEK maintainer if not being driven every week.
My wife's 2020 Honda CRV battery also died at just past 4 years.
Predicting battery life is tougher than predicting the weather or the stock market.
To all the naysayers out there 11 YEARS AND COUNTING on my original battery! 2015 delivered to me in November 2014! I really am not expecting much longer.
I went 10 years on a 2016 Z51. I replaced it last week not because it went dead but I am getting close to storing the car and I didn't want any problems.

I think I have the original battery on my 2017 (new to me in 2023). My days/weeks/months? are numbered.

I bought a 2017 last year that had the original AC Delco battery still in it. I had the car parked for a few days while I was working refurbishing the wheels. Everything was hunky-dory when I parked it. I put the wheels back on it a few days later, set it down off of the jacks and that was that. I went to start it up later in the day with the remote from inside the house and I heard "click click click" and that was it. Battery was dead.
I'm not saying your battery will give out and die halfway through your trip but ... you will be getting ready to go someplace all packed up and ready to go then "click click click"
and you aren't changing that battery out in 5 minutes like you would with a Ford or GM truck. It took me probably an hour to get to the battery and wrestle that thing out of its hole. I've never had so much trouble. the stupid thing didn't have handles and there was not enough space in the hole to grab it and pull it out because the fingers got in the way. wow what a chore. But thats just my case. Better make sure that your battery has handles or it will take you 30 mins or an hour to get it out of there.
Just bought a 2017 stingray, 4900 miles with original battery. Expect to replace it next spring. I can pull the carpet back to "see" the battery. But what is needed to get the carpet completely out of the way?
Don't forget to post the picture stranded in the road when you find the limits!
lol... good for you!
Exactly.....

I too have gone similar on OEM, but the issue is huge variance across what appear to be identical batteries. Many of us have seen this over and over. But, good for you, though I'd doubt such performance with your next.
They are nice, but some types of battery death can't be revived by a jump.
Also, the batteries in the jump packs occasionally self-ignite.
I'm tempted to get one but haven't done it yet.

I'm still on the original battery in my 2018 Corvette, as well as on my daily driver (2016 Civic) My climate is not that hard on batteries, plus I don't do short trips, so that helps me get very long life out of all of my car batteries. I've never had one die early on me, the shortest life I think I've ever gotten was five years.
If you have an older battery and are worried about what life is left just test it either with a load tester or conductance tester. This will give you an idea of the condition of the battery and how much future life that is left.
