Easy. Purchase the entire housing. Make SURE you get the correct temp rating! So many non OEM temp ratings. While you are in there, replace the temp sensor also.
It is pretty easy. I've got it down now, as I've replaced two this year alone. As noted, doing the ECT sensor is not a bad idea either. Even easier than the thermostat.
My car has been diagnosed with a bad thermostat, the replacement looks pretty simple. Has anyone done this and is it as easy as it looks?
Thanks,
Get you a billet thermostat housing while you're doing the change. I did it like 2 months ago. I got the DMS Billet Thermostat Housing with 160 Degree Thermostat - it was 174 degrees Choose Alternative Thermostat Temperature:174 Degree (+$4)
It's nice for when you have an intake and it's pointed the way you want. I paid $240.91shipped.
All that you need is a 10mm wrench and some pliers to relieve the hose clamps. If it is fully cooled off, you won't even need to add coolant. Doesn't get easier! Got the full tstat housing as well as the temp sensor from NAPA locally for about 100$. It's a luxury having parts available locally, after years in Euro cars, I never was so lucky.
