As of right now I use the free pandora through the blue tooth on my android. I have a 2015 3LT and I nod there is a Pandora selection in the info screen. If I were to upgrade to one of their pay for subscriptions would I, then simple select the feature on the info screen to listen to it?

No need too. The Pandora app on the radio is free and runs off wi-fi. On my 2019 I just use the built in wi-fi to run off my phone. Pandora app then works.
With my 15 and my Samsung phone I have to use the USB cable to get reliable connection, sometimes Bluetooth works but ... most of the time i just use the cable
I guess I did not ask this correctly. I can listen to Pandora as long as my phone is in the car and I have it on blue tooth and also, I select the Pandor app on the phone. I am wondering what it takes to simply get in the car start it up and then go to the Home screen and select the Pandora on that screen without having my phone connected or even in the car?

I told you, you need your cars infotainment system to run off wi-fi for the in house Pandora app to work. I use it all the time. I use my phone as a wi-fi hot spot.

I don't think you can do what you're asking. I have a paid Pandora subscription and it doesn't work in my car unless my phone is connected either by wire or bluetooth. .(Or wi fi)

I yi yi. Don't know what is so hard to understand. The in car Pandora app works on wi-fi. So you either call Onstar and buy a data plan or use your phone as a hotspot for wi-fi. That's it, period.
I don't bother setting my phone as a wifi hotspot to use the built-in pandora app, I just use Bluetooth streaming and go to Media on the car.. works perfectly and is much faster than trying to get the car hooked up to my hotspot every time I drive. Plus hotspot kills my battery if I leave it on.

Last time I used hotspot because my home wifi went out, the "usage" allowance was gone in about three hours. My phone plan sucks.
lol I don't use my car much so I don't know actually how much data it is sucking out of my plan. I don't have unlimited data, I think like 10gb (or whatever those things are called) a month.

I just Googled it and AI said depending on quality, 0.7-3.4GB per 40 hours on Pandora via Hotspot. So yeah, you are good to go even if you do drive 40 hours a month.
Interesting. I was wondering why my Pandora app never worked on my C7 Z's infotainment. I never actually bothered because I just used the bluetooth connection and ran it though my phone app. Now I know I could have run it though my phone's hotspot. Always learning.

android auto with the motorola thing runs over wifi, so the connection is wifi between your phone and the wireless android auto device. And the android auto device is plugged in the USB port

Hold on, can you explain this more? What is the Motorola device exactly? It lets you stream your android auto screen to the car display? And then you're getting wireless Android auto? Can you link to the device please?
Edit: found it. Its just a wired AA to wireless AA adapter. I thought it enabled AA on cars that don't already have it.
