My new 2014 Corvette had Michelin tires run flat and I changed them after 8000 miles because they were terrible in the rain and I got Continental tires non run flat and 65 k miles I am on my 2nd set !!!!
I'm deciding which tires to put on my '17 Stingray LT2. After reading many threads and watching videos, I'm going with the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4. I live in NM, so a lot of potential for rural driving when I leave the metro area. Non run flats would be great, but I need the extra' insurance' the ZP's offer.
I'm going to need a new set of boots for my baby before too long. The baby in question is a 2016 Z51 Stingray Coupe. My hope is to do some long road trips over the next few years and I'm pretty sure I want run-flats for peace of mind. I know that run-flats have gotten better in terms of ride quality since the last time I had some (on my 2001 C5). I'm retiring in a couple of weeks and I need to start being a bit more price conscious, so cost is one (but not the only) consideration -- quality and durability are also obviously important. I don't track this car, and engage in "spirited driving" only occasionally (those occasions being much less common than back in the age of dinosaurs when I got my first C4 Corvette).
Any thoughts and specific recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I have run flats on my C7 and got a flat in Ardmore, Ok. Long story, I bought these run flat tires at a discount tire and saw a sign for discount tire literally just a block away from the gas station I was at. I went there and everyone there( including the manager) refused to try to repair the tire so I could drive home. They said they didn’t repair run flats and would only order me a new tire. I had to get a hotel and leave my car there as they said it’d take three days to get a tire. My husband had to drive up and get me and we went back a week later to get my car. When we got back home our local discount tire said they didn’t tell me the truth about discount tires not repairing run flat tires- as they do repair them ! So just hope you are at a discount tire that does repair them if you ever need them repaired.

Wow! Sorry about your experience.
We've been using Discount Tires for 25 years/250k miles on Corvettes, all over the USA. They've always been helpful and reasonably priced, sometimes going the extra mile to get me on my way ASAP at minimum cost.

I had a horrible experience with run-flats. I purchased a 2011 C6 with Michelin I don't remember the exact model. They would stick to the road and jerk the steering until they got warm. The ride was so rough that I quit driving the car. I did a little investigation on here and other places and decided to give the Continental non-run-flats a try. It was a night and day difference on the C6. It was a pleasure to drive the car. I know they have improved and the original tires were old, I think 6 years when I changed them. That has left a bad taste in my mouth for run-flats. I have replaced them on all of my vehicles with non-run-flats. Fast forward to a week ago, I bought a used C8 that has the Michelin AS run-flats. They are not bad, even in the cold weather. The car does have mag-ride so that does help too. I am going to wait until warmer weather to evaluate the ride again. I just may be keeping them. I guess the added safety of not worrying about a flat, or having to wait for roadside assistance will weigh heavily on my decision.
Another vote for Michelin AS/4 ZP. I had a set of these installed on my 2016 Stingray a couple of years ago. I am pleased with the results. They also eliminate the Ackerman Effect.
I got the Michelin AS4 ZPs this week and they feel great for the limited driving I've done since -- and definitely a BIG improvement on the last run-flats I had more than fifteen years ago. I'm looking forward to putting some miles on them next week.
Well, I have a Z51 that I replaced the factory run-flats with the Michelin Pilot All-Season 4 ZP (ZR-rated). They are fine, but I immediately noticed, and continue to do so, that the cornering is not as tight / sticky as the originals. I love cornering, so this is a disappointment. I’ll keep them, wear them out, but will eventually replace going back to the originals (non all-season).

I have a 2019 Z06 with 11000 miles. It came with run flats that seem to be in good shape but I guess it’s time to replace them after 6 years. I’ve had several bubbles on my other car with run flats but no issues with the z06. This is going to be a tough decision.

The Owner Manual in our 2017 Z51 recommends replacing the tires at 6 years, regardless of remaining tread.
So I replaced the original PSS runflats tires at 6 years, still with about 4/32" tread. That produced a significant increase in grip (accelerating and cornering) and a modest decrease in noise.

Yes.
Our first modern Corvette (2001) came with runflats and we've stayed with runflats on all of our 'vettes ever since then.
We sometimes take long road trips to places far in the boonies, and I wouldn't consider anything else.
If your car is just a weekend toy for local driving where a flat wouldn't be dangerous or too inconvenient, then non-runflats could be a reasonable choice.
The one Corvette flat we've had was at the end of a narrow twisty road, far from help, near the south end of the Tail of the Dragon in NC. Sidewall cut that couldn't be inflated or plugged, and was not repairable.
We called ahead to a tire shop about an hour away, hopped in the car, and "drove the Dragon" at slightly reduced speed to the shop. It took a couple of hours out of our trip but nothing more- no flatbed, no trying to remove the wheel and find transportation to the shop, etc.
