I have a 2014 Stingray (non eLSD). I went to the dealer and got the rear axle fluid (10-4034, pictures attached). This is the fluid that comes up from them double-checking my VIN and it should be correct.
The bottles say that they include the friction modifier, yet the parts counter dude said I needed the 4oz bottle of friction modifier as well. I mentioned that the quart bottles already say they include it, and he said I don't have to buy the little bottle of additive if I don't want too but that people add it anyway. I feel he is probably just selling what he knows goes together but that I do not need to add the small bottle. Is that correct? Can someone with more knowledge confirm this? I don't want to ruin a rear end over a 4oz bottle of friction modifier, but I also don't want to add it if I don't need it.
Thanks in advance for helping me not overthink this. I'm a tad too OCD sometimes.
No, the 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray's rear differential typically does not need an additional limited slip additive if you use the specified ACDelco 10-4034 Dexron LS 75W-90 gear oil, because this fluid is already formulated with the necessary friction modifier (LS) for limited-slip differentials, including those with the Z51 package's electronic LSD. Adding more might even reduce effectiveness, but if chatter occurs, a small amount of additive can be used to smooth it out, though it's generally best to stick to the factory-recommended fluid.

This that’s all I used nothing else was necessary or my master Corvette tech would have definitely put another additive in. This is all I used
DEXRON LS was introduced as the new factory fill starting with MY2009 to resolve the previous Mr Goodwrench crap fluid that did need a separate bottle of additive. Prior issues with slow speed turning diff clutch grabbing and slipping was common place with the older units. Those issues disappeared with DEXRON LS. It does not need more additive than what it already has. More can interfere with how the unit functions. Lots of posts about this if you search the C6 and older sections.

See my prior post. I do not recall any member complaints with slow speed chattering while turning with MY2009 and newer vettes since they have the factory fill DEX LS fluid.
I agree that no additional additive is needed. The parts guy doesn't know enough about diff fluids to say what you should do. As a reference I use Mobil1 LS fluid as is for the same reason.
Yes, I also agree the C7 doesn't need additional rear fluid. I haven't heard of anybody having a chatter after filling the rear end with the proper fluid.
