Trunk Not Closing Fully
I opened my trunk today and once it was fully opened I heard a loud click / pop. And when I tried to close the trunk it would only close enough so that the trunk would lock but not close fully to the point where the trunk sensor senses that it’s closed.
I’m taking a look at the assembly and it’s clear that the trunk is hitting that metal lever, hence why it’s not closing all the way. I pushed the lever down while holding the trunk release button to hope it goes into the correct position and that still didn’t work. The latch works fine; first rotation it locks, 2nd rotation the sensor turns off.
I’m confused on what to do now, I know that lever needs to be pushed down more and I’ve forced it down as much as I could. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something that I need to replace?
UPDATE: Figured it out, the lever is supposed to sit on that metal hook. I had to bend the hook some more so it would stop sliding out from under everytime the lever was pushed down by the striker (trunk).
