I recently bought another '14 P.E. Vert, and one of the fobs will not operate the top. Both fobs are properly programmed to the car (from the factory) and will start the car, lock, unlock, and pop the trunk.
I would open the case per the owner's manual and try the top-down button to make sure it's functioning without the case on, in case the button on the case is not making good contact. Also, perhaps clean all the electrical contacts in case they're oxidized.
All batteries are not created equal. I tried Amazon batteries and some were good, some were bad, and some lasted two weeks or less. The top draws more power than other functions and a weak battery could have problems.
Now, I just pickup a sheet at Costco. They go through so many batteries they are always fresh. jmho
