Default Rear view mirror

I recently purchased a 2019 grand sport. The rearview mirror seems to be stuck in the nighttime mode? Am I understanding the manual that there is two modes, day then night ? It is always dark mode. There is no lever like the manual ones. Any ideas ?

Most auto dimming mirrors are entirely self contained in terms of the dim feature.

I should look up the fail mechanism to be sure, but my logic is that its safer to be dark than light (dark at night is good not blinding). You get reduced visibility for dark in the day, but its not blinding which to me is a worse failure mode.
i'm gonna have to check that left side, thanks for the tip!!

It could also be dark tint on your windows telling the sensor it is dark.

I do not usually have the top up during the day and the mirror is in day mode. I went for a drive with my Wife during daytime, top up, and noticed the mirror went dark.

I dropped her off and put the top down. I put my finger over the sensor and it went dark. I was puzzled.

I dropped a package off and as I was returning to the car, I noticed the tinted windows, which were done by the previous owner. Then, it dawned on me. The tint, with the top up, fooled the sensor into thinking it was nighttime. With the top down, it got the correct reading. It is still annoying, but, I like the tint, which I can easily see through at night.
