Default C7 Software updates?

I’m dropping my ’16 off at the dealer in a couple of weeks for some maintenance. I already plan to have the MRC update done, but are there any other firmware/software updates I should have them check for while it’s in? Trying to get ahead of anything else I may be missing.

I would assume 2019 was probably the last time GM pushed out any updates so I doubt you're missing anything. Depending on when your '16 was built, I would ask if Android Auto could be added. AA was pushed out mid cycle in 2016 IIRC. If you care about that of course.

Hopefully the guys at your dealer are up to speed on the MRC Update. Have read many reports of dealers not being able to correctly update or don't even know about the update.
Just a heads up before you go....

I had the update performed a couple of weeks ago. I had emailed the GM documents explaining the update to the service manager at three local Chevy dealers (there's a fourth that's only 10 minutes from me that I won't use) asking if they could do the work, and for what price.

One of the three never replied. One put me in touch with a service writer, and after several additional clarifying texts, I was quoted $829. The third had me contact a service writer, and after sending them more info I was told it should be $400, unless they needed anything else. I agreed.

After the work was completed, the service writer told me the price was $560, for some tenuous reasons that they couldn't, or more likely wouldn't, explain. I went back to the service manager, and the bill was lowered 10% to $504. I won't be returning to that dealer.

But, I will say that the car rides much smoother now. Much less harsh over bumps, etc.

Can you give me a link to the GM Documents? I need to get that done on my 17 GS

Thanks in advance.

You might also create a Chevy Owner's account and check for any outstanding recalls or program items.

OK - thanks.

I'm just trying to help.

I guess the GPS updates are merely that - updates (but not software updates).

I believe mine came not from a dealer, but from GM.

I thought that the TSB stated that the update was priced at $350.

That is correct and that is what I was charged for the update at Classic in Grapevine, TX.

If your car is an A8 and has not had the triple-flush, you might want to think about that as well. Not a software update, but good to have.

One thing to remember is the $350 MRC product is an upgrade not an update. Dealers do updates to fix things and some dealers may not realize or may not want to charge labor to the labor code provided by GM as part of the upgrade. There is another alternative, they charge the labor code and the Customer and make some extra beans.

May I suggest you go to Jim Mero's website. He can program you MRC Module under an exchange program quickly and affordably. He wrote the software for GM and the Later Vett's Module year 2019 and the improvements were so great that GM decided to offer them through the Performance division. Jim did my 2017 Z06 and I could not be any happier. He also offers other tunes that may fit your needs better. I don't track my car and Jim installed Super Sport in place of track for performance street driving and it is perfect for that tail of the dragon type driving.
Just Google Jim Mero Driver
Good Luck!

My MRC update was $300 at the dealer, the first summer the software was available. They admitted I was the first customer, they did their homework, and (after the requisited day of "sitting") the ride was improved.
