So my 2017 corvette grand sport is stuck in Park. Won’t shift out of park 😡
im pretty sure it’s the Bcm that failed. But have no idea what bcm controls the shifting out of park. Also my footwell lights and over head console lights, dont come on when opening the doors. I’m assuming there all controlled by the same bcm.
anyone deal with this and how to get it unlocked from Park to shift ???
When the engine isn’t running and you need to put in nitrile you can press the start button for about 15 seconds with your foot off the brake until all light come on and stop doing things. Then push the brake and shift. Have tried that to see if that will work?

I have also read that if you take the cover o we the center console off there is a switch you can manually move to unlock the shifter. I couldn’t find it maybe you can. I ended up doing the pressing start button until all lights went through their sequence then let up on button and press beake then take it out of gear. Worked for me

good luck.
Vague memory of reading something similar to this - it may have been pushing the short end of an allen wrench through a hole near the base of the shifter to release it. Or I could be totally off base...
This is a common problem that plagued many C6 owners. Was a real pain in the butt. First I have heard of on the C7. On the C6 there were a variety of solutions, but I believe they all required the removal of the center arm console to access a plastic locking pawl that engaged/ locked the shifter mechanism whenever the transmission was placed in park. There were a series of relays that had to communicate with each other to signal that pawl to retract and allow the shifter to select a drive or reverse gear. It started with a switch activated by the brake pedal. Don’t know if it’s a similar setup on the C7 but wouldn’t be surprised if it is. Will be very interested in what you find out. Please keep us posted.
Maybe disconnect battery for 10 minutes or so.
when you parked, were you level?
If not, maybe try to physically rock the car?
Any sticky notes or utube videos?
Good luck & let us know.
So I took the car to the dealer. They tested everything. No blown Bcm. Ended up being a blown Fuse. Fuse -#20 under hood. Must control interior above and footwell lights and park to shift unlock.
They ran codes and cleared them and then reinstalled the center console and shifter.
All is perfect now.. $300 later. But i thought it was the bcm and was expecting 3x that much. So I lucked out

Glad they got it figured out. That’s good information for all of us. Thanks for the follow up!

Glad you got it fixed, and at a decent price. Thanks for passing on the fix!
Besides carrying an extra fuse . Any idea what caused fuse to blow?
yes. I was installing some LED strip lights. I knew I blew it. But thought I blew a Bcm. From all the research I did. Glad it turned out to only be a fuse.
