Just put one of these in. Love the product. Love the lock feature. Curious is this is something that would cause eventual harm to the transmission, engine, etc…?
I had it in Sport mode L5 mostly. It generally seemed like it caused the A8 transmission to upshif way faster, allowing fast acceleration while RPMs stay low. Once at higher speeds, I noticed it would stay in higher gears for longer, downshifting more slowly.
From what I understand, the controller changes the response curve of the throttle since it's all electronic. I don't think it messes with anything else like changing the **** on the center console does. I could be wrong, but even on their own site it shows the different throttle response curves for the various settings. Yes, this might secondarily affect shifting like it does with all cars (throttle position, speed, rpm, etc.), but that's not the primary purpose. Again, I could be wrong.
To answer your question directly, no, I don't believe this is going to hurt our cars. You would abuse your car more by tracking it, BUT these cars were made for tracking too so I wouldn't worry about it.
I installed a throttle controller prior to going to the Bash (love the lock out feature). I started the trip in Sport 5 and once when I pulled out to pass slower traffic and punched it, I was going 95+ mph before I knew it. Amazing change in the pickup. After playing around with the settings, I selected Sport 2. For me, this setting gives me great throttle response and keeps me under 100 MPH, unless I really want to move. As far as damage to the drive train, I do not think it will have a negative effect, unless you previously hammered your drive train, and it would develop issues regardless of the throttle controller. Good luck.

I do not think the product will harm the car. Find the right setting that matches your driving style and enjoy the car.
So here is the question that I have not seen or read maybe someone can answer it. I believe this helps if you keep your car in auto all the time. But what if you drive your auto in manual mode all the time. That all I do since I have had my auto. Z06.

It won't cause any damage or harm to your car. It along with their throttle body was one of the best early modifications I made to my Corvette and highly suggest it to everyone.

Even if you drive the car in manual mode all the time, you’ll still notice a big difference with the controller. The controller is changing throttle sensitivity/pedal response, not the transmission shift logic itself.
So whether the car is in auto or manual mode, it still helps remove a lot of the factory pedal delay and makes the car feel much more responsive and immediate when getting into the throttle.
We actually have quite a few customers that mainly drive in manual mode and still love the controller for exactly that reason.
