Default Antithief lock down?

This has happened to me twice now. I push the start button but instead of starting, the car goes into some antitheft lockdown mode. Lights flashing horn beeping. There doesn't seem to be any way to switch this off and start the car. I have a 2015 model. Anyone have advice about what is going on. I hate to drive the car as now I never know if this will happen again. The episodes are about a week apart with the car performing normally in between episodes.

Is it extremely windy or is there heavy truck traffic or construction nearby? Even an extremely loud exhaust or fireworks has been known to set off the inclination / theft system.

To reset it disconnect battery....which leads me to another question, how old is the battery? Normally other weird issues with old/weak battery, but this could be one

How old is the key fob battery? Some C7 owners replace the fob battery each year. What you are experiencing might be caused by a weak key fob battery, a weak vehicle battery, a bad fob, or an issue in the body control/security circuitry.

Certainly worth checking all the batteries to see if something is amiss. Go from there.

Fob batteries are #2032. A fresh battery should measure about 3.3 volts. Fobs will not work much below 3.1 volts. Replace batteries every 3 yr or earlier if you think range has decreased or the fob acts flaky. Check new battery voltage and replace battery and check fobs one at a time!
