Sorry it took so long for me to respond to your question about my blacked out grill bar. Although I find the C7 Forum very helpful and informative at times, the ongoing bickering and adolescent behavior of some of the "keyboard commandos" around here tends to keep me away for long periods.
There are a couple of ways to cover up the chrome grill bar.
The cheapest way is with vinyl tape. There are vendors on the forum that sell pre-cut tape. If you go this route, be sure to buy Carbon Flash Black tape to match the rest of your car's trim. You simply apply it directly to the bar. Its a little tricky trying to prevent wrinkles in the tape, but it does work.
There is a company that sells a carbon fiber "snap-on" cover, but they are not cheap. I have the tape and carbon fiber cover. I haven't installed the carbon fiber yet and the photo you saw was with the vinyl tape.
Check the vendor section. There many companies that sell products for this issue.
