Just an oil change. 20 minutes, and I'm willing to wait. No deal. I have purchased two cars from them in the past, INSTALLED A FREE CAMARO INTAKE ON THE GEN. MGR.'S SS, but never again.
So.....I went down to the local quik lube type joint. Every guy there was in the dark with respect to the dry sump system. "What do you mean two drain plugs?" I handed them the instructions, but you know what happened next. "We do this for a living".
I told them to please listen to my instructions and we could get through what started to become an ordeal.
Ok, they drained the oil from both the external oil tank supply line, and residual oil from the crankcase sump. At least that is what I thought. New oil filter installed.
So now the guy tells me that the quart bottles I brought are not accurate quart bottles, since the 10 he put into his plastic oil container do not line up with his marks properly. So he is about to start on the 11th bottle, and told him to stop. The Z51 takes 9.8 quarts, not 10.3 as indicated in the instruction manual. There was a GM revision.
So now the oil goes into the dry sump oil reservoir tank, and I stop him at 9.5 quarts.
Duh? "I cannot let you leave without checking the oil level" I explain to him that the oil level cannot be checked until the oil has sufficient time to heat up, circulate and after a 5 to 10 minute shut down, so how do you propose I do that without driving the car, or at least idling it until the oil temp has equalized?
Duh, "I don't know. Well, I do. I am going to leave and come back in 5 minutes and let you check the level so you are in the clear. "OK?"
After that warm up, I let the car sit for 10 minutes and sure enough it is near the upper hole mark hash. Needs about .3 quart, making it 9.8 quarts total.
I have posted this for the folks that have the Z51 package because 99% of the oil change shops do not understand the correct procedure. This outfit would not even read the instructions I handed to them, which gave me pause, but I pushed on through the lack of interest and got it done.
Our shop is 25 miles from home, so that was not the plan that day, and we have cars on the lifts.
Just remember, it is your responsibility to make sure these shops do not screw up. The first time 10.5 or 11 quarts gets poured in, under high performance running, you will likely puke that oil into your intake system.

came with free oil changes. I still bought and changed my own oil on it too!
In feburary 2010 I bought a 2008 Z06. I checked the manual 10 quarts! I start to overfill. I looked again and it had a 2009
owners manual and it really only held 8.5! So this is good to know!

The last time I brought in my 2011 3500HD truck for an oil change, I told the service manager I had a meeting in 90 mins. They got it done in 30 minutes! Good service is what keeps me coming back to them.
I will never ever buy another new Audi, but that is a whole other story lol.

Please make Sticky for owners that did not get the Supplemental Oil Change page in their owner's manual.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
1) gm does not know how much oil their vehicle holds, in order to publish a correct operators manual,
2) gm dealers are not trusted to change oil in their own vehicles, by any owners with knowledge of corvettes.
now isnt that just special...... but you did get "a lot of car for the money"
(at least until you have to go for your first oil change--whenever that is). funny,
but you never hear from any porsche or ferarri owners who had serious problems with such advanced servicing procedures as changing oil! it is true--YOU DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR......[oh, and i do realize that im not supposed to actually touch the paint on my car with my bare hands, that my stock tires disintegrate below 40 degrees fahrenheit, and i cant safely run the car in rain with stock tires. but, fortunately, there is the highly acclaimed owners manual, that is larger than "war and peace" (thats a novel by a commie named tolstoy, about the invasion of russia by some short guy from france in 1812, and equally as understandable)].
