Default Crub Detector installation help needed for C7

I have installed 4 curb detectors on the c-6s, and reciently purchased one for my C-7 and can't decide how to power the unit since the fuse block is not in the cabin. Has anyone installed one and where did you pick-up the power and how do you get to it?

If you could post pictures an instructions of the installation once you have it completed I think most of us would appreciate it as well

Thanks!

I know this is a dumb question, but what is a curb detector? Is it a box that tells you that you are about ready to crush your front end if you do not apply the breaks fast when parking? If so, where do I get one? Do they really work? Is there a good, better, best brand or type. God, I sure hope this is really a product. I have toasted the front on my C5 in parking lots twice in 20 years and on my new Honda Odyssey as well. I want one if this is really a thing that works. Advice? Nick Yes, agree, need to pay better attention when parking. That is a given for sure.

Default Curb Detector works great!

Nick,
Yes they do work and the cost of about $125.00 is well worth it! The detector mounts to the front bottom of the bumper and the main module and a small speaker mount inside the cab of the vehicle. All you need is to rout the wires to the inside of the vehicle for the detector and supply power to the main module! There are videos on u-tube or on the vendor sites for the C-6 and other vehicles. I purchased mine from Corvettemods, but some of the other parts vendors on the forum sell them!

Default Working on photos

@ DFW---I took some photos and I am getting them ready to post next week once I make sure I include the instructions!
It is more difficult because you need to route the wires to the rear fuse block and the power wire is too short! Other than that it is just access that is a little difficult!

I purchased mine from Southern Auto parts. They installed on on a C7 and installed the sensor in the grill by taking out part of the grill and installing the sensor off center. I was thinking of installing mine under the bumper, thinking that it would signal me before I hit anything that would destroy it.

As far as getting power from the rear fuse box. I was thinking of getting power from the front fuse box, but can't find a fuse tap for the newer ATR mini fuses. Any thought?

Thanks, Jerry

This is really cool. I love it. I will order two of them now. One for the C7 and one for the Honda. Thanks so much. I totally did not know about this. Nick

Okay, I got this great product and the C7 is going to be delivered next week. I will have plenty of time to install this as I cannot take it out until weather improves in April. Soooo... If you have any advice for running wires, fuse box location, access, mounting, etc. Let me know, otherwise I am going to just jump in and do it. Nick

I was reading a thread where someone was trying to hook up a battery maintainer under the hood of a C7. They found a positive terminal to the rear of the front fuse box under a plastic cover. I don't have a link for that thread but it is under the C7 tech threads and it shows a pic. I checked out the voltage at that terminal and with the engine off it is 12 volts and with the engine running it is 14 volts. Since the curb alert senses the difference between battery voltage and alternator voltage, it will turn off and on when the engine is turned on and off when using the terminal. I am going to install my curb alert this weekend and will let you know how it works.

The people that I purchased the Curb Alert from said that you had to get power from the rear battery compartment and installed the sensor in the grill. It didn't make sense to go all the way back to the rear of the car for power and I am going to try installing the sensor under the bumper.

Follow up:

Finished install: Works great. Got positive power from terminal under plastic cover at rear of front fuse box under hood. Placed beeper on passenger side under glove compartment and ran wire under plastic and rubber front molding of door into engine compartment. Found ground nut couple of feet to front of fuse box on passenger side of car under hood. Mounted sensor under bumper, not in grill as the store I purchased it from suggested. Placed control modular on the side of the water container to rear of front fuse box.

I purchased mine from Southern Auto parts. I ordered for a C7 and came with this newer Atr mini Fuse add a link, email Southern to asked if this was the c7 new fuse, he Answered "YES" So I check both fuse box's and its for the under hood Fuse box, the rears are the same mini BUT THE FRONT FUSE IS ATR Mini... so I e mail & PM them back asking witch fuse to use in front fuse box, over a week and still no Answer. Anyone know witch fuse up front to use????????????
