Prototyping and testing of our new C7 Aero package has started. We should have the prototypes (V1) on the car for testing this weekend.
So that we didn't have to start from scratch we are cutting up a splitter that we already use on the C6. We will start with this design and build off of it. Once we have it close we will build a brand new one around that design.
i saw this car at Road Atlanta this w/e. With the wing and the spitter it picked up 10mpg through turn 12, it also lost 9 mph on the back straight.
stock tune/exhaust etc it is running on race rubber/better brakes
Lap time---yalll ready for this------1:32.7!!!!
In my limited ability in observing this car on track--i can tell you this--- it is fast as hell through turn 1. Very impressive, very impressive indeed..
315s, big IRON brakes, DOWNFORCE!, a stiff adjustible suspension; this is what GM (and some of us) get for them making a car that shoots right out of the box 3-months later!

That was our first session out with the car and the exact numbers were.
Session 1
We lost 7mph on the back straight vs a stock car but we picked up just over 10mph through turn 12. 1:32.7 Lap time.
Session 2
We made a wing adjustment before the next session and picked back up some of the lost back straight speed. Mph through 12 stayed the same. 1:32.4
So over baseline testing we picked up just over 2 seconds so far. Pretty big gains for a total of 8 laps and a weeks work.
Its started raining off and on so we didn't get any more testing in.
There is still a lot of speed left in the car, its showing a lot of promise.
The C7 like our previous race cars this one will be part of our wind tunnel program. We will head to the wind tunnel with multiple configurations to test. But having the track data is really helpful in getting an idea of where we need to start.
There is plenty of speed left to find, the C7 is already shaping up to be an amazing platform.

C5Z 10.5s all the way around with a Hoosier R6 315 tire. The tires fit but certainly not well, They will destroy the Brake duct. We have already started engineering a new solution for that. Ill try and get some better pictures of the inner fender today so you can see how close everything is.
The car lost just over 15lbs of sprung\unsprung weight.
Are the tires too wide though (11-12"/tirerack)?
