Just getting prepared. Will probably change the oil for the first time at about 1000 miles and then get into a 6mo change interval with synthetic. Don

The manual calls for a PF-64.

Many others have posted on using the Mobil1 M1-113 ($12-$13), which is what I'd plan to use.

I think that the higher the miles the thicker the oil should be , also the hotter the area(in the south) the thicker the oil should be. Foe example Porsche mentions 0-40 and I have always used 15-50, so I think 10-40 as mentioned earlier should be ok for C5,s just my 0.2 cents

I'm using the NAPA Gold 100290, which is the same as the Wix WL10290. As soon as I can find them, I'm switching to the Fram Ultra XG12060 (this is a new part number so it's not readily available just yet)

Under warranty,I'll stick to the OE filter.

In the South( upstate SC) I run either 0w30 or 0w40.

Default Ttt

I have used the WIX gold in every car I have made way better than the GM stuff on the inside. Robert

I totally agree. I am running Valvoline 5W-40 Dexos 2 in my C7 here in the Mid Atlantic. It is plenty hot, the car is kept in a conditioned garage and only started in winter inside and then only on days warm enough to drive the tires. Might be beneficial to use the 0 weight low end stuff in more northern climes or for winter driving/parking outside.

I agree, I know a lot of people on here refuse to use anything but AC Delco, especially while under warranty, but if they saw the two of these filters opened up they would clearly see the Wix (and NAPA Gold) is constructed much better (and it's even more obvious if you compare the Wix to the newest design of the AC Delco). And what you can't see is that the filtering media of the Wix made filters are more efficient than the AC Delco. They filter down to 99% at 20 microns, while the AC Delco is only 99% at 35 microns. In the long run this means cleaner oil and less engine wear with the Wix.
