Default Rear Sway Bar Install

Purchasing non-Z51 car and want to install Z51 rear sway bar. Part is under $270. Dealer advises against stating that this would be an involved job with many parts to remove to place bar within sub-frame, etc. Does anyone have any experience with this? Want to achieve ride of non-Z51with a few suspension tweaks. Thanks

Take it to a performance place that has experience with corvettes. A sway bar installation is not that hard.

I'd wager that if you find a Corvette shop, they'll charge $150-200 for the installation.

The front one is cake - I can't imagine the rear being much worse.

The dealer is blowing smoke. The install is very similar to the c5 or c6 rear sway bar install. However , if you don't install the front bar also, it will probably. Make it tail happy.

I'd say save your money, the base car handles just fine!

Correction, it handles amazing for a base car. Very impressive actually.

Thanks. Guess it makes sense to drive the car first and evaluate any further needs.

Exactly. Stiffer rear bar is going to add oversteer.

You need the bar, bushings, brackets, bolts and endlinks... then just bolt it all in. Do the front bar or the car will be tail happy. Should probably drive the car before you start modding. GM engineers obviously found they could control roll sufficiently with the monoleaf out back.

The addition of the front/rear bars is really not necessary... This coming from a Z51 owner.

The base model drives like it has a traditional bar setup because of the design.

Just my opinion...

Pfadt Engineering (a forum vendor) is in the suspension business and has a C7 for product engineering purposes. They could tell you exactly what parts are needed for what results.
