I thought I read somewhere in the manual about damage being done to drivetrain if you continued hard acceleration multiple times or whatever. Sorry I can't quote the manual, but I tried to find where it stated that.
My question to you motorhead professionals is am I misinterpreting something? I don't drag race, but I do drive heavy footed and one of my rushes is launching from red light / just flooring it at any speed and marveling as I sink into the seat from the g-force.
So...can I drive hard without fear of damaging a part or parts?? I would think that this car would be designed for just that purpose.
Also, I'm still a bit unsure of the differences between Sport & Track modes. I know you can hit the middle button twice quickly and it's go into stability mode, turn traction off and limited slip off.
The dealer told me that while in Track mode I run the risk of damaging wheel because if I hit pothole the shock would travel to the wheel and not be absorbed very much by suspension.
what started out as a simple question thread yet again has turned into a novel.....sorry.
I believe that there is something in the owner’s manual that says something like “avoid shifting when the car is experiencing axle hop” or words to that effect.
I’m not sure how much that applies to your concern. Don
Just drive your car and be happy. If something breaks then it is under warranty or insured. If it is due to something you did in error then just pay for it.....Stop living in the future, you are ruining your day today.
I don't think that can be right. This car is warrantied by GM, even with track use! They have to know you're going to be accelerating quite hard and frequently on the track. The axle/wheel hop thing makes much more sense.
i realize that vehicle is supposed to be covered bumper to bumper for 3ys/36kmi, but my dealer told me that their mechanic will decided who is responsible for vehicle component failure.
I may be missing something here.......... but I'd NOT have this discussion with a dealer!!!!
Seems like IF something happens you'll be on the losing end.
I didn't have this discussion.
When I was signing papers the finance person was trying to sell me everything, extra (their) warranties..etc.and he tried to drive his point home by telling me that if something broke, then it was up to mechanic to determine if it would be covered. Since he wanted that commission he was really ******* factory warranty.
