Default Catch Can Installed

So I just got my RX Performance catch can installed today. I read a lot of reviews online and just about every review was positive. Plus I live only 20 minutes from their shop and figured I would bring the car down there and have them do the install.

The unit looks very nice, is painted to match the color of the car, and I must say Tracey was a pleasure to deal with. He was very informative during the install as I was there with him installing it. He explained everything in detail and explained how everything works.

For those debating whether or not to have a catch can installed, I would highly recommend it, especially if you are running forced induction. My oil level is at the correct level and I had some oil in my intake, not a lot, but there still was some in there. This is now just one thing less that I have to worry about.

Hey Brian. Nicely done! I had one on my CTS-V Wagon for 2 year without issue and I ended up catching a LOT of oil over that time that would have otherwise ended up in my intake. Your car is coming together nicely. I might have to come over and drive it finally

Vic,

I had some oil in my intake so it is getting in there. Thanks for the suggestion on the RX can, Tracey was a real nice guy.

I'm going to order some custom braided hose tonight to dress it up a little bit.

Just let me know when you want to take it for a spin.

Looks great, man!

If you want to get some fancy hose, go with Earl's Pro-Lite 350. That's what my LMR can uses, and I was going to source some more. Not cheap, but if you only need 3 feet, it's manageable. 10-foot sections start getting stupidly expensive, though!

I ordered some stainless braided hose from Summit, 15' was about $55 with anodized blue and red hose clamp covers.

you're still going to get oil in your intake with a catch can, fyi.....check it again in 1000 miles.

I was worried that might be the case. Any idea why a catch can isn't enough to solve the problem? Thanks.

I'm not insinuating it will catch every last drop but If it minimizes the amount getting in then it is money well spent.

A catch can doesn't filter or purify air. it only redirects it to a more convoluted route. Of course some of it will get caught in the trap but as long as oil molecules are suspended in the air and that air still has to go to the engine, oil will come with it.

I know you weren't. Whether its a good value or not is opinion.

I prefer to go the vacuum pump route if I do modify the PCV system. It's a 100% solution.

I just replaced the vacuum lines with steel braided lines. I only needed two boxes of band aids.https://www.corvetteforum.com/c7-gen...1&d=1395072322

Oh god, this had me rolling. It's so true on braided SS lines. That's why I'm glad to have switched to braided nylon - it's soft and fuzzy.
