Anyone Else Have Problems Setting up HomeLink?
Any chance the older Liftmasters have used up the available pairings which would mean you need to erase the older ones in order to pair you new car? I went through that several years ago with one of my Genie openers, I think it only allowed 4 or 5 transmitters to be matched and the old ones don't automatically erase when you try to pair a new one. Check the opener instructions (the Liftmaster manual) and it will tell you if there is a limit and what the procedure is to erase the old codes. In my experience the only way to do it is to erase them all which means you will then have to link your other vehicles again after the erase procedure.
My '05 Vette won't set up at all.
Even the garage opener guy couldn't get it working.
Simply put Homelink is one of the worst systems out there

A couple thoughts and work arounds for resolving this.
First, is your garage capable of learning a new remote or is it the dip switch style? Many garage door units have a button that you press to program it for a new remote. You push that button on the motor itself to put it in learn mode and then press and hold the homelink button. This will train the garage door opener itself to the cars homelink frequency. Search for a manual on your opener to see if that is an option.
If that wont work and you can't program the homelink to the opener, go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a new universal garage remote kit. It includes a new garage door opener remote (or two) and a little box/receiver that wires into the garage door opener switch circuit. They are very inexpensive and should solve your issue.
Here is an example of one of the kits.

Or if you don't want to go to the store.
