We just got the C7 2 weeks ago and while in the quiet garage the security alarm has now gone off 5 times (3 times in the last 24 hours (once during the night).
It goes off before we can get into the garage. There is nothing in the garage to set it off. We have no animals and we live in the quiet country so it can't be vibrations from the road.
Any suggestions why it is doing this.
We asked the Sales person who called Chevrolet and they said they had never heard of anything like this before.
Car has a motion detector system. I do know if the window is down and you toss something in there it goes off. If you get out to get gas and a dog or person is in it it goes off. Thus the button next to the dash lights that turns off the motion part.
But I would think if it is in the garage with the windows up....... you got another problem and the dealer needs to fix it.
On my c5 the security system started going off randomly. The passenger door switch was the culprit. I can't remember for sure, but an adjustment was made to the door or switch which took care of it. It may not be the motion sensor.
Ok so my 2015 ZO6 convertible got possessed with mysterious gremlins as my alarm went off 3 times in the same night for no visible or apparent reason. Crazy messages on the dash like, top not secure, service rear axle, open then close driver window, low voltage and the car did want to start initially. When I called my Chevy tech buddy this morning and explained the issues, he advised me not to drive it but have it flatbedded to the dealership. As it turned out, my Chevy tech ran through the battery load test 1st, no problem, good battery. He hooked up their new scan tool to the car and started checking for any codes, none initially. He saw the crazy messages on the dash screen about top not secure, open/close driver window, etc. He keep reading all the data from each of the control modules on his computer screen. He finally saw that the passage side clasp or prawl for the top was in the opened position even though the car's computer said top was secured. There is a micro-switch in the receiver for the convertible top right on top of the window frame. From factory, this clasp w/microswitch was not properly seated. The vibrations of driving over a 1000 miles caused it to finally stay opened. The car's computer thought someone was trying to peel back the top to get into the car, therefore the alarm kept going off. Once he corrected the problem by merely seating the clasp, everything went back to normal. So far, so good. We'll have to see if this reoccurs in the future.
