Default 7 speed shifter vibration.

took museum delivery about three weeks ago and when we were leaving the museum I noticed in 1-2-3 the shifter vibrated ever so slightly. I almost turned around but said it will probably disappear as it is broken in. Wrong. It is still present and I was wondering if anyone has had that same problem. Otherwise the car is awesome. It is a clone of the 14 red one that Hendricks bought at Barrett Jackson last july. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Seems to me a lot of people are too sensitive to a little vibration. I even moved my Hurst shifter from the C5 to the C7, which has no vibration dampening, and still no noticeable vibration.

Are you thinking there might actually be something wrong in the drive train, or just expect absolutely no vibration?

Not sure who told you it would go away, thats never going to happen.

It vibrates and considering the small amount of damping I'm surprised its as good as it is.

It's attached directly to a part of the chassis and you will get all kinds of things being transmitted through it.

I went to the MGW and even it is pretty smooth.

Consider the bottom of the shifter has a ball and that ball sits in a cup that vibrates like crazy. That all gets transmitted up top and nothing to damp it.

I dont know if there is something mechanically wrong or just something needs to be adjusted. I owned at 05 6 speed and an 07 z06 and neither of these vehicles had the vibration. It is ever so slight but is there none the less. Thought someone might have had the same experience. thanks

Put it in eco mode at 1000 rpms, part throttle. That'll give you vibration, lol

You may want to pop the console cover off and check the large rubber groomet/covers that surround the shifter. Maybe the top one came loose or the one below it is torn. I don't notice any kind of weird vibrations from my M7. I've recently switched to the MGW shifter but ever before, there was nothing out of the ordinary and I'd even go as far as to say there are less vibrations in the C7's M7 than on my 09 Z06's M6. Take a look at Theta's MGW install instructions in the "sticky" above in the tech section. It has instructions for removing the console cover which takes just a couple minutes. There are also photos of the rubber grommets I am talking about that surround the shifter.
